Hey, I'm Marquis Mason, founder of Solar Alchemist. I started this company after a "lightbulb moment" on my own roof — and now I help neighbors across Southern Wisconsin and Northern Illinois protect every kilowatt they paid for.
A couple of years ago, my new solar panels were underperforming. We had heavy pollen and no rain, so I tried what everyone suggests: I waited for a storm, then I tried the garden hose. Neither worked. The grime didn't budge, and my energy production stayed low.
Finally, I got up there and actually scrubbed a small section by hand. Then I checked the app.
The energy spike was instant and huge.
That single moment is why Solar Alchemist exists.
That's when I realized that solar panels aren't "set it and forget it." If a garden hose can't fix it, most people are likely losing money every day to a simple layer of dust. You spend $30,000+ on a system; you deserve to get every kilowatt you paid for.
My Mission
I'm just a local guy who wants to make sure everyone in our community is getting every penny out of their expensive system. It hurts to see a great investment underperform because of a "rain will clean it" myth that just isn't true.

What I Believe
Three rules I run this company by.

Rain doesn't clean solar panels. NREL research confirms it — pollen, hard-water minerals, and bird droppings need mechanical cleaning. Most owners are losing 2–15% production every year and don't know it.

You hired me to fix a problem — not to upsell you. If your panels are already clean enough that cleaning won't move the needle, I tell you. Your trust is worth more than a $200 job. (The Wisconsin State Capitol's panels hadn't been touched in 16 years — that's when you call.)

Manufacturer-approved methods, every time. Soft rotary brushes, 100% deionized water, biodegradable soap, panels cool to the touch. The exact protocol Tesla, SunPower, LG, LONGi, and JinkoSolar publish in their own warranty documentation.
When you book me, here's what to expect
- 1A real conversation first. I'll text or call to learn about your system — no pressure, no upsell scripts.
- 2On-site assessment. I'll walk your property, look at the roof access, check current soiling, and confirm the quote in writing before any work starts.
- 3Before-and-after photos. Every job, every panel — documented from the roof so you see what I see.
- 4An honest call if cleaning won't help. If your panels are genuinely clean already, I'll tell you. Your trust is worth more to me than a $200 job.
Your roof stays the way I found it.
I'm OSHA-certified and fully insured. I use soft rotary brushes (never pressure washers), biodegradable soap (safe for your roof, lawn, and gutters), and walk only where it's structurally safe. If anything ever goes wrong on a job, I make it right — period.
Honest Scope
What I don't do.
I'd rather refer you to the right person than pretend I'm the right person for everything. Solar Alchemist is a cleaning + light-inspection company — here's what I'll always send you elsewhere for:
- —Solar panel installs or expansions. I'm happy to recommend the local installer I respect most.
- —Inverter, optimizer, or electrical repairs. That's a licensed electrician's job — and your warranty almost certainly requires one.
- —Panel removal & reinstall (for re-roofing). That's a structural job. Your installer or roofer handles it.
- —Snow removal from panels. Snow on glass + brushes = scratch risk. I let nature handle it.
If your panels just need to be clean, producing, and protected — that's me. For anything else, I'll tell you who's better.
